Gene, Thanks - you're not descended from Arbutus Mullis, are you? Somehow that rings a bell. John Nash, born 1827 in Anson Cty NC was my G-G-Grandfather. He also was in the Confederate Army, having served in Co. A, 27th NCT. I had a VA commemorative marker erected for him at the cemetary at Faulks Baptist Church in Marshville back in 1992 or so. He also had two brothers and at least one nephew who also were in the Confederate service - Joseph & James, & nephew Solomon. Interesting info on Richard Nash - would like more info on his ancestors if possible. This is all new information - had assumed that he came over on a boat from England or Ireland, so your info is very illuminating. I had worked with Virginia Deese of Marshville, who was the family geneologist, but she couldn't find anything before Richard, having not had the resources to go much further back. I have a copy of the Nashes that she wrote - the Anson/Union Country Nashes, that is. Would like to know more - we've also been using a Nash family crest for the past 50 years or so - the one with 3 greyhounds on the shield. Know anything about that one? Look forward to hearing from you - my email is douglas.nash@us.army.mil. Thanks! Regards, Doug Nash Notify Administrator about this message?
