Mr. Brewer made this request of President Narramore a few days ago and impressed it upon him that he was strictly opposed to a closed shop. It was the freely expressed and entirely unanimous opinion of the paper workers Thursday night that they would listen to no proposition which did not recognize the union. Attorney John E. Hogan, representing Mr. Brewer, served notice on the paper workers that his client in turn would not sign an agreement of any sort, insisting upon dealing with each employee separately. All prospects of a settlement of the strike are temporarily blotted out by these ultimatums. A disinterested person, just to satisfy himself as to the number of persons employed at the plant, counted noses Thursday evening as the workmen came out and he reports thirty-eight, six or eight of whom were foremen and clerks and guards. ================================= The Daily Review Decatur, Illinois - Friday, November 14, 1913 ------------ FALLING COAL KILLS A MINER -- Taylorville, Nov. 14, William Narramore, of Taylorville, thirty years old, was killed at 5:20 o'clock last night by falling coal in the Peabody Mine, No. 7 at Kincaid.
