Greetings to all other Navratil's where ever you might be!Unfortunately Ed I can be of no assistance regarding your query but it is interesting that my grandfather who died in 1956 aged 72, name was also Joseph!I never met him but he emmigrated from Austria sometime around the Great War and was the 1st shoemaker in WINDHOEK SOUTH WEST AFRICA!now NAMIBIA. My father,Karl-Heinz was born in WINDHOEK 31/7/23 and moved to CAPE TOWN SOUTH AFRICA as a young adult where after marrying my mom,who has Scottish ancestory raised a family of 5 children.I am the youngest! ....Born 23/3/58 and besides my elder brother,Erich and his son Nickolas I do not of any other Navratil's here in SOUTH AFRICA.In fact this would be the first time in my life that I am having any form of contact with another NAVRATIL!Although I have travelled extensively around the world, mainly backpacking (been thru USA '82,'84 &'88)but never got to meet or hear of any Navratil's anywhere! When Martina Navratilova arrived on the world tennis circuit in late 70's only then when I read a profile did I learn of the significance of the "ova" and the fact that her father was in fact a Navratil as well!In 1984 I opened a telephone directory while in NEW YORK and was quite amazed to see as many NAvRATIL's as any other common surname here in S.A. Anyway been a pleasure making a contact and if anybody would like any information from this part of the world please feel free to drop me a line and I will do my best in assisting. All the best health to everybody....cheers!
