Royal Marines (John Knowles)

My ancestor John Knowles was a sergeant in the Royal Marines. I am trying to find his parents ; and in addition would like to find his "history."

He enlisted 11 March 1793 in Manchester , was promoted Corporal 12 April 1794 and was promoted Sergeant 3 Oct 1795.

His first son was born at Gillingham and for some reason his wife took him (and the next two sons) back to her native town in North Wales for the baptisms.

In 1811 she was in Manchester staying with him or relatives I don't know. His 2nd son (David, my ancestor) left a memoir that John died c.1814.

Hope all that detail hasn't bored you all away. My questions are -
1.I found him listed in ADM 158/5 "Chatham, Portsmouth Divisions" in a company "7". Does anyone know what this company did during the 1793-1814 period ? If this company saw sea duty how would I find the name(s) of the ship?

2.Does anyone know where they were stationed ? Is it possible the company was transferred from Chatham up to Manchester/Liverpool ?

3. I feel certain his wife (Margaret (Davies) Knowles) received a pension. Where can I find that sort of information ?

4. Is there any record I can reference to find information about his death ?

Was delighted to find an ancestor in the Royal Marines ; my own tour was in the United States
