Joseph Peers at the Battle of Waterloo

I am looking for information regarding a Joseph Peers (other possible spellings of Peers) who fought at Waterloo. Joseph was born in England and after the war moved first to the US and then to Canada. His son's (my ancestor) obit mentions that he was at Waterloo and another family line suggested that he was one of Wellington's personal guard. Any help in tracking down information regarding him and his involvement in the Battle would be greatly appreciated
