Jeff, I was so delighted to read your posting on GenForum about Napoleonic prisoners of war. I have been tracing my husbandís ancestors and they go back to a Louis Huet born about 1768. He married in Okehampton in 1811, a local girl Jane Seldon. He gave his occupation as tailor. He had three children christened in Okehampton in 1818 one of whom, Francis or Frank is my husbandís gt gt grandfather. Frank gave his birthplace as Oswestry in probably 1814 and this confused me greatly until I read your posting and the reference to the South West Maritime History Society and there I discovered that some of the Okehampton prisoners were transferred to Oswestry.

Louis later gave his occupation as Teacher of the French Language and nearly all his children became Professors of Dancing, or Fencing.
