This is a very interesting find! How do you now feel abt connection w/ William Nanney/Ellen Edwards as suggested in earlier posts? I see Griffith son of Wm. Nanney/Ellin Edwards in your post, also note no marriage. I wonder if the baptism of Rees, whom we know to be a Quaker, and the noted lack of marriage found for parents of Griffith son of Wm. Nanney and Ellin Edwards was due to persecutory pressure in the Anglican community, since Quaker marriages and baptisms appear to be unrecognized by the church of Eng. until much later. Perhaps we're looking at 3 gen. of non-conformists rather than standard being naughty illegitimacy. On the other hand, if Rees was illegitimate in the 'immoral' sense, an uncle or great-uncle named Captain John, (a son of Wm.& Ellin ?)could have left Wales to lessen the sting of illegitimacy.Might you comment on these conjectures?
Are we perhaps looking at a line which might go like this?:
Gen 1 William Nanney Ellin Edwards
Gen 2 Griffith NanneyJohn Nanney
Katherine ?
Gen 3 Evan Nanney
Margaret David
Gen 4 Rees Nanna
