Norman J. Nanny, one of the oldest residents of the town, died at his home in Amity, October 3lst 1903 (or 1901?). Mr. Nanny was born near Amity 87 years ago and all his long life was spent in that vicinity, where he was a successful farmer, highly regarded by all. He always lived a bachelor and leaves two sisters surviving; Mrs. Youngs Layton, of Little Falls, NJ, and Mrs. Harriet Chamberlain, who resides in Pennsylvania. Mr. Nanny came of a family of soldierly line and used to belong to the old State militia. An ancestor, Captain John Nanny came to this country from England to avoid imprisonment for participating in the rebellion against Charles I; his grandfather, David Nanny was a private during the Revolution and his father, Captain Daniel Nanny, served during the war of 1812.
