Just noted your message. I believe Clement's father was a William Nance who first bought property in Lincoln County in 1778 and died there in 1794. I cannot document, yet. Due to other Williams and Clements in the area at the same time it is hard to sort them out due to skimpy records and wanderlust. I can tell you that Clement's wife Martha was the daughter of William Nixon, who was the son of John and Sarah (Carr)Nixon. He came to Lincoln Co., from Charlotte Co., VA in 1780 and died there in 1801. He was married to Elizabeth Black who died in 1820. I can tell you that both Thomas Williams, d. 1874, and Martha, d. 1858, are buried at Bethel Presbyterian Church near Cornelius, NC, and with them is Thomas's second wife Elizabeth A., d. 1896. Buried closeby are Martha's sister, Elizabeth, and her brothers John, James and Clement. I have a Williams family tree with Clement and Martha at the top. Hope this helps a little. El Nance
