Scott, I also have a Nantz lineage coming out of Louisiana. I have only found one Nantz family in Louisiana. In that family there were only two known sons, and one of those had only one child. It’s a pretty good possibility that we are cousins.
On the 1810 U S Census of Concordia Parish LA there is an enumeration for Lewis Nantz. Lewis was between the ages of 16 and 26, appears to have been married and had one child, a daughter. Lewis’ mother is also enumerated on that same census with her second husband Enoch Drake. Her name was Eleanor (Stewart) Nantz Drake. With Eleanor were two other Nantz children, a daughter, Elizabeth, and a son, Thomas B. Eleanor died in 1815 and her succession (probate) papers are in the Ouachita Parish Courthouse in Monroe, LA. In the succession papers it says that Lewis Nantz was living at that time in Missouri Territory. Lewis’ brother, Thomas, had one child, Albert, who moved to South East Texas. Albert is my 3g grandfather.

I have not tried to track Lewis so I can not tell you exactly where he went. Nor can I tell you where the Nantz family was prior to 1810. They could have come up river from the area along the Mississippi called the German Coast. They could have come down the Mississippi or across the Natchez Trail from one of the Nantz families in Virginia, Kentucky or North Carolina.

Would be interested in knowing if you should find a link to Lewis Nantz.
