I am a descendant of Joseph McKinley Nance. He was born 3/14/1898 in Holmes, MS to Jas (James) Nance b: 1847 & Sophronia b: 1856. They are all on the 1850 & 1860 Tishomingo, MS census. Sophronia parents listed from Ga. James parents are Henry A. Nance (abt 1815) and Nancy E. Nance (abt 1830); Henry parents from NC and Nancy from GA. So this leads me to believe Henry and Nancy meet in Ga and married and traveled to MS. I know Joseph and possible his mother and bro returned to GA in early 1900. Joseph was in WW1 and married in Ga in 1927 to Cynthia June Godfrey.

(this family was in MS as early as 1850)
