Many thanks Sheila. My husbands ancestor is William H. Nance believed to be a brother to James K. Nance. Both born in South Carolina according to the census, William cica 1790, James K circa 1792. I had written to Pete Nance in 1972 and he gave me that data from Peter and Elizabeth but I now think he is wrong. I found a William Nance in Surry County, NC married to a Debra but he turned out to be the wrong one.
