Pete Nance, author of the "Nance Register" makes a good case for the parent of Thomas Nance being a Daniel Nance, not John Nance. I have some of my Nance info on my website at http://members.cowtown.net/bobnance/
But as Dave said, it may just boil down to whatever you choose to believe.
