Had Dutch ancestors who reportedly left Holland in 1880 to settle in "Africa" . Thought Southwest Africa or Union of So.Af. would be historical look-back starting place. Have no clue how to do this, but the advantage of a rare family name: VERZYL (Dutch V E R Z I J L ). Kindly advise whether someone via internet sends any help. Have heard some African family resettled in NYC. In 1880, part of family stayed in Holland, part to AFRICA (where?) part to New York ..to all US and some Canada. Many family in US still connected. Would there have been some common churches in Namibia? Example: Dutch Reformed, Lutheran, etc. Any clues?? Contact verzylmary@systec.com.
