Japie & Maie DREYER, Hilary (née DREYER), Rosebank / Kroonstad
I am trying to assist Douglas DASHWOOD-HOWARD (now living in Germany) in tracing descendants of Japie DREYER & Maie (Mary) Gentles DREYER (née SMITH), and in particular their daughter Hilary (Douglas’ cousin). Refer to his posting on the DREYER family forum (message no. 195) and on the South Africa forum (message no. 4611).
Maie DREYER (née SMITH) emigrated from Scotland to South Africa with her uncle and aunt Agnes CARSTAIRS, in the early 1900s. Maie married Japie DREYER. Indications are that the DREYERS lived in Rosebank (Johannesburg) and Kroonstad (RSA) for a while where Japie may have worked for, or managed branches of Lindsay Motors. They had three daughters, Denise, Jackie and Hilary (b about 1935; she would therefore be about 70 years old now), and possibly a son Leslie. Hilary attended the Rosebank School in 1943 and the Kroonstad English School (now the Kroonstad High School ) in 1947. DREYERS in Namibia may be able to assist. Any assistance in tracing Hilary would be appreciated. (See also messages 4870 & 4871 on the South Africa forum).
