thanks for your posting, I have come across your Nally's I think in the process of researching mine.

The only info I have in Ireland is this, I have 2 possibilities:

Patrick Nally c: 1/6/1842 Balla, Co. Mayo
f: Michael Nally
m: Sara Cunnane

Patrick Nally c: 9/81843 Mayo Abbey
f: Michael Nally
m: Sarah Griffin

We are leaning towards the Balla one as when Patrick came to England he states Balla as his place of birth.

I don't know if there is a link between your Nally's and mine. The family still live in Bury!!! We haven'y moved very far have we after all the years past.

We do have an elusive James Nally who was sponser for Patrick's second born child in 1877. Could this be a brother to Patrick or just a coincidence? I found a James Nally on the 1881 census living in Castleton, Rochdale, states he is married but living there alone. Haven't found any other trace of him.

Thanks again for your posting, it isn't very often I get contacted re Nally's in England let alone 'Lancashire'
