I am searching for Nalley ancestors, specifically a Hezekiah or Hezekiel Nalley of Culpeper County VA who m. Susan or Susannah Bowie. Children Aaron, Cynthia, Mahala, William, James and perhaps others were born in the 1810s and 20s in Culpeper Co. They moved to WV, then Pike Co MO by 1850. All appear in the 1850 Census there, the aforenamed children all married and in separate households.
Searching Culpeper Co. online I find few if any "Nalley"s, many "Nalle"s. Is it possible the spelling of Nalle changed to Nalley with change of location, and different county clerks/census enumerators? (it is sometimes Nally in MO records as well)
I don't find Hezekiah Nalle(y) in Culpeper Co. online resources, but at list one contributor to the Rootsweb WorldConnect family trees has Susanah Bowie's husband rendered as Hezekiah Nalle.
There is also a prior message on this forum that cites a Hezekiah Nalley in Fauquier Co (just north of Culpeper, across the Rappahannock) in 1810.
Any information on this family,whether in Culpeper Co. or Fauquier Co. VA, Pike Co. MO or elsewhere will be greatly appreciated.
