Looking for information on Emily Nail and her family and children. She marrried Samuel J. McFarland on November 3, 1853 in Montgomery County, Texas. Census listing this family in 1860:

1860 Texas, Nueces County, Corpus Christi census:

Sam J. McFarlan, 43, male, wagoner, 0, 500, born South Carolina
Emily McFarlan, 39, female, born Alabama
Silest McFarlan, 6, female, born Tx.
John McFarlan, 4, male, born Tx.
Louisiana McFarlan, 4, female, born Tx.
Elizabeth McFarlan, 2, female, born Tx.
Martha Nail, 17, female, born Alabama

Samuel McFarland dies June 25, 1860 and Emily Nail McFarland married John R. Whitley, April 3, 1864 in DeWitt County, Texas. 1870 census for the family is:

1870 Texas, Goliad, Goliad census:

McFarland, Louisa, 14, female, white, born Tx.
McFarland, John, 14, male, white, born Tx.
McFarland, Johathan, 12, male, white, born Tx.
I believe that John Whitley was married previous to Emily, as I have found who I believe is the same person in the following census listings:

1850 Missouri, St. Clair County, Dist 79 census:

John R. Whitley, 30, male, farmer, 900, born Ill.
Elizabeth Whitely, 27, female, born Mo.
Judah Whitley, 3, female, born Mo.
Randolph Whitley, 11/12, male, born Mo.
Margaret Anderson, 14, female, born Mo.
Rebecca Anderson, 10, female, born Mo.
1860 Texas, Wise County, Decatur census:

John Whitley, 42, male, farmer, 1000, 2500, born Ill.
Elizabeth Whitley, 38, female, born Mo.
Judea Whitley, 14, female, born Mo.
Randle Whitley, 10, male, born Mo.
Polly Whitley, 5, female, born Tx.
Polly Hicks, 33, female, 0, 700, born Mo.
Joseph Whitley, 17, male, farm hand, 0, 100, born Mo.

I haven't located the wife Elizabeth in 1870, but in 1880 I find:

1880 Texas, Wise County, ED 131 census:

Whitley, Elizabeth, female, white, 57, keeping house, born Mo., father NCarolina, mother Scotland
Whitley, Randle W., male, white, 28, son, farmer, born Mo., father Ill., mother Mo.
Anderson, John W., male, white, 9, grandson, born Tx., parents Mo.
Emily Nail's daughter, Celeste McFarland married Michael O'Meara December 1, 1870 in Goliad County, Texas, and they appear in the 1880 census, with Celeste's half sister Fannie, and a Mattie McFarland who I have not been able to identify:

1880 Dimmit County, Texas Census

O'Meara, Michael, male, 28, married, Livestock raiser, born Ireland, both parents Ireland
O'Meara, Celeste, female, 24, wife, keeps house, born Texas, mother born Mississippi
O'Meara, Jno. Henry, male, 7, son, single, school, born Texas, father Ireland, mother Texas
O'Meara, Emily Ellen, female, 5, daughter, born Texas, father Ireland, mother Texas
McFarland, Mattie- female,17, other, single, born Texas, mother born Mississippi
Whitley, Fannie-female, 11, other, single, born Texas, father born Mo., mother born Miss.

In searching for Emily Nail prior to her marriage to Samuel McFarland, I have found one census entry in 1850 that might be her, although I have not proof of this.

1850 Mississippi, Yalobusha, South of Yalobusha River census:

Joseph Naile, 55, male, farmer, born Ga.
Eliza Naile, 39, female, born Ga.
Emily Naile, 18, female, born Ala.
John C. Naile, 11, male, born Ala.
Martha Naile, 9, female, born Ala.
Welding E. Naile, 22, male, farmer, born Ala.
Any information of these families that you could share would be much appreciated. Thanks.
