I am trying to trace my g.g.grandparents, Garrett and Julia (Kieley) Nagle who arrived in Boston in 1850. I know something about the genealogy of the Nagle family in Ireland going back to the days of Gilbert D'Angulo, but have found nothing about my ancestors in the years immediatly before they left for America. All of the public records on this side of the Atlantic indicate that they are from Kerry, nothing more specific. Garrett was born about 1814; his parents were James Nagle and Julia (Moynihan) Nagle. Julia was born about 1826; her father was Jeremiah Kieley. Some years ago I visited Castlemaine but found that my branch of the family is unrelated (at least in recent history) to the Nagles in that area, despite the fact that a number of Garrett and James Nagles appear in local records. Given that the epicenter of the Nagle clan is Cork, particularly the Mallow area along the Blackwater River, it seems that my ancestors might have a chosen the more accessable parts of Kerry, closer to Cork than not. Have you come across Nagles in the Rathmore, or other parts of eastern Kerry that might be related to my line of the family? Anything you can tell me about this would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Peter Nagle
