The following is a dower release for selling land to Thomas Matlock. Greenville Co. S.C.--Deed Book M.--page 178--3 November 1818 William Nabours, John Nabours, Abraham Nabours, Arther Nabours, Jacob Nabours, and Henry Hill the husband of Judith Nabours, being the heirs and lawful issue of Jacob Nabours, deceased, for $420, to us paid by Thomas Matlock of Laurens Dist. S.C., 110 acs. in Greenville Dist. S.C. on the SW branch of Horse Creek. Beginning at a stake in the fork of a branch and Little Horse Creek, bound by the Indian boundary line, it being the tract of land occupied by the aforesaid Jacob Nabours, deceased. Dated 25 November 1817. Signed by--John Nabours, Abraham Nabours, Arther Nabours, Jacob(X)Nabours and Henry Hill. Wits: Mason Nabours, Benjn Arnold and Abijah D. Pinson. Personally came Abijah D. Pinson, and proved deed on 29 Dec. 1818 in Greenville Dist. before Benjn Arnold, Justice of the Quorum. Signed: Abijah D. Pinson, Sally(X)Nabours wife of John Nabours, Sally(X)Nabours wife of Arther Nabours, Nancy(X)Nabours wife of Abraham Nabours and Betsy(X)Nabours wife of Jacob Nabours, all signed one dower release on 3 November 1818 before Benjn Arnold, J.Q. Recorded 2 Sept. 1822. Note:William Nabours or wife did not sign above dower release. He may have died before this time--his whereabouts unknown--he & family (if any) may have lived too far to travel. If the above Jacob had married the second, I would think his 2/wife & family would have been mention. Also note that Buel Blassingame & Allen (Allen F.) not listed among this Jacob's heirs.
