The earliest of our branch I trace back 200 years to the early part of the 18th century between 1700 & 1720. There lived in that time about the central part of Shropshire in what is usually called Corvedale a man named Mytton. That man was the father of our grandfather, he had several others sons and I believe daughters. Our grandfather John and two brothers Edward and William emigrated to South Shropshire. Two of them settled in the Parish of Burford, the third at Bayton near Cleobury Mortimer. ... Our grandfather John had 5 sons and two daughters. Edward, John, James, William (our father), Thomas, Sarah and Elizabeth. I first saw the light of day at Whatmore the 20th. of June 1832. Our father having married the previous year Miss Steward or Stewart of the Levills.

This extract is from a letter written 30 Nov 1915 from Los Angeles, California, USA by John Mytton [of USA 1832-1922] to his sister Emma Clarke
