James Barron m. Agnes Myler
I am researching my ancestor James BARRON, born ca 1828 in Ireland, died 28 November 1890 probably in CA. He was a barge captain on the Erie Canal prior to the Civil War. After the Civil War, he moved to the San Francisco area. He owned a property with a lake in Alvarado (now Union City), CA.
He married Agnes MYLER (born ca 1831 in Ireland) on 12 August 1851 in Wayne Co., MI. I believe all 8 of their children were born in Cleveland, OH prior to moving to CA (6 girls, a boy who died in childhood, and James T. BARRON, my great-great-grandfather).
James T. BARRON was a successful businessman in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR, and owned the Thlinket Packing Company (Funter Bay, AK) and Nooksack Packing Company (Lummi Island, WA). James T. BARRON married Elizabeth NIXON. Mount Robert Barron on the Mansfield Peninsula across from Funter Bay, AK is named after James T.’s son.
I’d like to find out more about James BARRON and Agnes MYLER.
I have limited information about James & Agnes’ children; better information about James T. BARRON, all of which I would be happy to share.
