Hi Larry,
I have been unable to trace back from either Jacob Myers or Louisa Taylor Myers. I do know she was born August 8, 1803, and married Jacob (Moyers,Myars) (born June 14,1803). In the July 21,1850 census, Jacob and Louisa were both 47 years old, and their children were: William (20), Jacob Alvin Daily (J.A.D.)--(who is my descendant)--(15),Eliza (12), Mary (10), Letitia (8). Living in the same house evidently were also Samuel Adams, Edney Adams, William Adams, and Charlotte Adams (could these people be cousins to either Jacob or Louisa?). The Myers from Jacob on up to my great-grandfather, Thomas Gordon Myers, were all blacksmiths, in both Rural Retreat, Va and Mingo County WV.
The census also states that both Jacob and Louisa were born in Tennessee. In the July 28, 1870 census, both Jacob and Louisa were age 67, and Jacob was now a wagon maker. The next month they both died. I am hoping some history buff somewhere can help me figure this out--either sickness or accident or whatever. Your idea about them moving their graves probably doesn't work because they died only a month after the 1870 census. That was interesting, though.
Enjoyed reading your Myers and Taylor histories! I hope someday I can possibly trace back further from my Jacob Myers and Louisa Taylor. Thanks for any information you can share, if you have any. Sharon
