The historical region Galicia was divided between Poland and Ukraine.

A good locator of a town whose name is from an old regime is : www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm and it is locating a town SKALAT in Ukraine. Not far East is a village Faschuvka.
