Hi Karen,
On 5/06/03 I responded to your Clark,Gray,Finlater,Elder,Lyon,Young listing.
I too am researching MUTCH from Aberdeenshire but do not think it is the same line...however I have this week received details of my father's biological father(he was adopted) but knew his mother as his Aunty.His birth father was Robert COOLEY, son of Robert M B COOLEY & Sarah S BRETTELL.Now I do not know if there is a tie in to your name but thought I would write on the off chance.
My father's name was Henry Clifford Cooley WILES and his birth mother was Lily MUTCH daughter of John MUTCH and Annie STANNEY of Aberdeenshire Scotland.
How common is the name BRETTELL?
