Hi Fay -

It's always possible that your Alexander Mutch and the father of my George Mutch are connected, although Inverbervie is a fair distance (about 45 miles) south of St. Fergus. Also, since George was born in 1849, his father would probably have been born between 1820 and 1830, or 2 to 3 generations earlier than your Alexander. Anyway, I don't know anything about either George or Alexander, and I was hoping someone else did.

What is your connection with the Brodie family? My ggg-gf Thomas Thomson married an Elizabeth Brodie from St. Fergus, after he had had his illegitimate children in Scotland, and after he and Elizabeth had both emigrated ffrom Scotland in the 1830s. Elizabeth's family had been in St. Fergus for at least 3 generations when she was born in 1812.
