My ggg-gf Thomas THOMSON of St. Fergus parish in Banffshire had an illegitimate daughter Barbara THOMSON, christened July 24 1831 in Longside parish in Aberdeenshire. The mother was Elizabeth DALGARNO of Knapps of Auchlee in Longside. On the 1841 and 1851 St. Fergus censuses, Barbara THOMSON is shown as living with her half-uncle Robert COWIE and his family in St. Fergus. She moved to Canada in 1851 or 1852, died on Nov. 17 1852 and is buried in the Claremont cemetery in Pickering Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario.

A Barbara THOMSON of Rora in Longside was the mother of George THOMSON or MUTCH, b. Aug. 23 1849 and chr. Jan. 28 1850 in Longside. The father was Alexander MUTCH of Rora, a farm servant.

I'm trying to establish whether these Barbara THOMSONs are the same person. Any information would be welcome.
