William Musgrave or Musgrove
I'm looking for more information about my great grandfather William Musgrave.Below is what I have so far.
According to family lore, William Musgrave died when my grandmother Sarah Margaret was around 5 years old and that he was killed on the railroad. In the census records there is indication by his daughters that he was born inIndiana or Ohio. Another census indicates that he was b. in IL.This could mean that he is from one of two of the main Musgrave lines in the country.Since I have not found the family in Montgomery Co., IL in 1870 I don't know where they are or if they were missed by the census. However, he is listed on a grocer's ledger in Irving, IL in 1872 so I believe he was living there at that time.
This William has been a brick wall for me for years.Any thoughts would be helpful.William married Emily Jane Stewart in Irving, IL on July 4, 1866.Their children were Sarah Margaret, Elizabeth Alice, and Susan Ellen. After William died, Emily Jane took in laundry in Irving. She then remarried to Richard Morgan and they moved with Sarah and Susan (called Ellie) to Arkansas where they started a second family.Elizabeth stayed in Irving with her maternal grandparents, Henry and Susan Stewart, and eventually married John Walcher. She lived all of her life in Irving. I have lots of proven information but William is still a mystery.
