My gggrandfather Stephen Muse was brother to Archibald Muse and Jessie Arnold; all came to Arkansas either with or following an uncle, Jacob Muse. Also migrating to Arkansas was their sister, Sarah Muse who was married to Reverend Peter Smith.I just loaned my sister a lot of my information on them and can't remember all off hand, but there are lots of information, including notes on Archibald Muse running a way station at his farm for express riders; Jessie Arnold was an express rider. Civil War skirmishes were fought on farm of Archibald, much of it by Irregulars who had escaped from Confederate conscription. My GGGrandfather and his son Hilery Berry Muse (my GGrandfather) were part of this irregular Northern sympathist group who made their way to Little Rock and joined a cavalry unit. Old family stories said the "boys" left home when their mother died and their father remarried; they supposedly did not get along with their stepmother. Thanks to a lot of help from Bob Muse in 1986 I was able to get the complete line back to earliest Muse family in America. I gathered lots of material on the Arkansas branch. email me if you are [email protected]
