Murtagh pronunciation? Americanized?
My family uses a hard G at the end of Murtagh as in tag. Most other families I have met use the softer ahh sound. I am curious if my ancestors Americanized the name or if anyone else uses this pronunciation.
I have very few clues as to what part of Ireland my family immigrated from but I know they eventually settled in New Orleans probably just after the Cival War.
