Ken,
That is very interesting and differs with what the ISBELL family had given me on their JOHN STUMP ISBELL sometime ago !
First, let me say that I don't research the ISBELL line, but the LEEPER husband of Mary Francis Isbell ( dau. of John Stump Isbell ) is of great interest to me as the LEEPERS married into my MURRAY family in Greene Co. MO.( Guian Guy / Green Leeper and Malinda Murray who is sister to my GG Grandfather RENNE N. MURRAY who md. ANNA ELLIOTT on Aug. 06, 1822 in Knox co. TN ).Having said that all we know on ANNA ELLIOTT is that she is from an ELLIOTT family of VA who probably was in NC and at least in TN where she married RENNE MURRAY in 1822.We are told that the ELLIOTTS spelled their name as "ELIOT" and were military men with distinction in VA. We would love to know more on the ELLIOTT family of Anna, but all I have is that her father was named IRBY ELLIOTT and the given name of IRBY did pass on into the MURRAY family.Whether the name of IRBY ELLIOTT is correct or not for Anna's father, I haven't a clue and haven't been able to find more on him than the listing of his name by other MURRAY researchers.I do however, recall the name of IRBY being mentioned by my father when he was talking about the Murray family. I cannot recall if he ever mentioned the name of IRBY ELLIOTT or not, but it does seem to ring a bell. I have yet to find an IRBY ELLIOTT of time period to be Anna's father on any census data.
The MURRAY family of Renne Murray, also included my direct line of JULIAN ( RENE JULIAN and CATHERINE ALLRED's dau. BARBARA JULIAN md. ALEXANDER MURRAY and are my GGG Grandparents who were parents of Renne N. Murray b. 1801 NC/ or TN ).CATHERINE ALLRED is then my GGGG Grandmother who is the dau. of JOHN J. ALLRED b. bet. 1730 - 1736the brother to SOLOMAN ALLRED b. abt. 1734( Soloman Allred md. MARY HAYS ) and is the direct line of Pres. Barack Obama on his maternal side.Pres. Bararck Obama is my 7th Cousin once removed as well.
I haven't researched Brad Pitts family to know if he is related to us or not, but we are from the same hometown as Brad Pitt. Many of the Monroe Co. TN families had migrated into Greene Co. MO by about 1840 to 1850 and so you will find many of my families connections there prior to their moving into AR/ OK/ TX and etc.
The JULIAN family are DNA tested to be FRENCH by way of NORWAY ( the VIKING'S contributed to this strange mix of DNA )The MURRAYS are yet to be DNA tested, but Renne Murray and Anna Elliotts daughter named MELINDA E. MURRAY married THOMAS HASQUE RICHESIN and the RICHARDSON/ RICHESIN Family DNA shows similiar markings to my ROGERS which are ANCIENT SCOTS IRISH.Could the RICHARDSON/ RICHESIN family are Scots Irish too but we had oral family info saying they were FRENCH, however, we cannot verify that as fact.We have GOODSPEEDS articles saying that our ALEXANDER MURRAY's father was JAMES MURRAY and that he and his father were FRENCH.The MURRAY family were in PA then in VA and perhaps JAMES MURRAY was in NC after leaving VA as his 1st wife died, and he left his daughters with family in VA and we see that ALEXANDER MURRAY possibly married BARBARA JULIAN in Randolph Co. NC about 1798.Barbara Julian's parents ( RENE JULIAN and CATHERINE ALLRED ) had moved from Randolph Co. NC to KNOX CO. TN about 1796, and we believe the YORK Family of VA and Randolph Co. NC also moved at about the same time period to Knox Co. TN, and were later intermarrying with the JULIANS in TN.We know that the YORKS/ JULIANS were all in Frederick Co. VA prior to Randolph Co. NC.
The first I found ALEXANDER MURRAY is listed below in my files of Monroe Co. TN Court Records, McMinn Co. TN Court Records pertaining to the HIWASSEE LAND DEEDS :

----------------------------------------------
Renne Murray had a land grant in HIWASSEE DISTRICT, McMinn Co. TN in 1824 for 160 acres.
1824 :
Per McMinn Co. TNthe following was found for Renne Murray's land grant :
Hiwassee District Entry Taker's Book
Rennie Murrey 12 Feb 1824 Pg. 24, Grant 8907-155 R2W-FT4 - 5 Swq 160 in McMinn Co. TN.
Also listed for Renne Murray is this :
Reny Murray is listed on the tax index for McMinn 1828-1832 and also 1850
Mary Murray married William Randolph 8 May 1860, he remarried in 1870
with Gilbert Murray as bondsman.
**************************************
We know that by the 1830 TN Census, RENNE N. MURRAY and his first wife ANNA ELLIOTT were listed as RENNE MOURY family on the 1830 Rutherford Co. TN Census ( where other ELLIOTTS and MURRAY also lived ).We know that the 1830 Monroe Co. TN only showed BARBARA (* JULIAN ) MURRAY as a widow with children and the MURRAY oral history is that ALEXANDER MURRAY, her husband, had died prior to 1830 TN.She then married her 2nd husband THOMAS ALEXANDER and moved to GREENE Co. MO and they are on the 1850 Greene Co. MO" Census etc.
ANNA ELLIOTT and RENNE MURRAY then moved to GIBSON CO. TN by 1832 where their son ALFRED H. MURRAY was born, and we believe Anna had one other child named JOHN H. MURRAY about the same time period of 1832 ( possibly a twin to Alfred H. or born the next year perhaps ).Anna then died between 1835 - 1838 and Renne Murray returned to Monroe Co. TN where he married 2nd wife REBECCA LACY.They too had children and after Rebecca died in TN, then RENNE MURRAY moved to ASH GROVE, GREENE CO. MO where he too died at the home of his son ALFRED H. MURRAY on Jan. 16, 1884.
The DAVIDSON surname of maternal family is in HICKMAN CO. TN and so far we only know they were out of NC to Hickman Co.TN by 1825.
