Richard,
Your Murray family information sounds related to my Murray ancestors.Jane Murray (married Dunn) was my great great grandmother.
Jane Murray from Georgia (Houston, Marion and Schley County) married Isaiah D. "Jim" Dunn in Shley County in 1853.She was born around 1825-26 in one of those counties and we think she is the daughter of James Murray and Martha Allen of those same counties. Jane's husband Isaiah Dunn was born around 1830.In 1880, Jane Murray Dunn had moved with her children to Texas (Washington County).I think her husband had died before moving or in route possible.
Her parents (we think) were James Murray b. 1795 and Martha Allen of the same counties (his second wife was Dora Ann Royal).Jane Murray Dunn and husband lived next to a brother of James Murray (John Murray and wife Emiline). At first I thought they were her parents. We do know that both her parents were born in GA, which eliminates some other Murray relatives in the area.
However, the evidence points to James Murray (of Houston, Marion and Schley counties) as Jane's father. For example, three of Jane's Dunn brothers in law as teens lived with James Murray and family during the 1850s and 1860s after their father David Dunn had died. Also, James Murray had a daughter age 15-20 during the 1840 census which could be Jane.I can't find Jane in 1850 right before she married.James Murray was an elder at Phillipi Baptist in Schley County where Jane and her husband attended (as did one of his brothers).
My questions:Do you have information on the James Murray and John Murray families that would help confirm Jane's father?I have census information after her marriage to Isaiah Dunn but can't find her in the 1850 census (the last one before her marriage).
Thanks,
Gary Carson
