Looking for information on a William Murray and family who settled in the area of Watkinsville, Clarke County, GA in the 1830's. In the 1870 census Of Clarke County, GA, James E. Murray, 36, was a farmer in Watkinsville, GA with his wife Louisa E., 30, and children Louisa, 6, Fannie, 4, Ida, 3, and James E. Jr., l.By 1875 Watkinsville was in Oconee County and in the 1880 census, James E. Murray, 46, was a merchant with wife, Lou, 40, and their children Fannie, 16, Ida, 14, James, 12, Mina, 10, Nannie, 7 and Lon, 5, and Bobbie, 2.Around 1905, Ida Murray built a house in the town of Watkinsville on family land, and in the 1910 census, Ida, 46, was head of household with brothers J. E., 42, and Robert, 39. In the 1920 census, Alonzo, 44, (Lon) was living with sons William, Lewis, and daughter Louise as well as his brother, James E., 50. Descendants of the family lived there until Ida Murray died in 1957. Any information will be appreciated.
