James, thank you for all of your information! From family geneology and papers, I have the names of the descendants from Thomas, 1789. If you are interested I would be happy to post them for you. Briefly, from Thomas(1789 m. 1.Margaret "peggy" Mercer or Messer and 2. second wife, Nancy Walker Butler) to James (1817 or 1820 m. Marinda Bashum) to Uriah Dow Thomas( 1839 m. 1. Bertha Elizabeth Jones and 2. Mary Jane "Mollie" Green.) As you know UDT is the father of WHM (Alfalfa Bill) and my Grandmother, Grace. Mollie Green was 50 years old when she gave birth to "unplanned", Grace while on the road as an evangelist. We also have most of the descendants from his brother, John. I know that WHM was searching for a Samuel Murray, as a possible brother of Thomas and John.
I'm sure you already have this info From early marriage records in Maryland: Margaret Jones married John Rattenburg, 22 May 1746 (daug of Philip Jones) and widow Margaret Jones married Josephus Murray 15 Oct 1748. Did you and your fellow researchers ever find out who "old Thomas married? Do you know the death date of Josephus Murray? Some of the info on the web seems to indicate that Josephus and Old Thomas were brothers and the sons of James and Jemima Morgan Murray. If the rumor that Margaret Jones also married Old Thomas. Could it be that he adopted the children of his brother, Josephus, including Shadrack?
