Hello James,
My name is Ray Boyle and I live in Rockhampton, Quensland, Australia.
My paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Murray who came from Ballinasloe to Rockhampton ca 1889 but while I am able to find her brother's migration details (below), I cannot yet locate her on the migtration registers held in the local or State libraries. Pat's death record lists his father as James Murray and his motherBridget. I cannot rely on my grandmother's death certificate which lists her father as Peter Murray. This is because my late Aunt was fairly careless whe it came to keeping records. Elizabeth was born in July 1870 or 1871 and the family story (again unreliable???) was that she andPpat were "raised in a convent because their parents had died"
She died in 1944 after having lived in Rockhampoon all her life there. I do know that before she married she worked in domestic duties for a dentist Frank Foster (after who my father and I were named -Frank). This seems to imply she may have been (as Pat was) an assisted migrant. She maried my grandfather, George Boyle in 1884.
Any help or any ideas?
Regards.
Ray Boyle
