I'm sure there's some error in your query! Who ever heard of a John having a MAIDEN
name?
But I have been searching for years for information on a Thomas Murray who died in Rockingham Co in 1809. He was an officer in the Revolutionary War and an aide to General Jethro Sumner. That's making me assume that he was born prior to 1765 at the very least. His wife was Nancy or Virginia Durham and he was given a land grant in Tennessee for his military service. He had a bunch of children who settled there in what is now Williamson Co, TN.
Have you any information on earlier generations of your Murrays in NC? I would love to know more about any of them. One of these days I'm going to find Thomas's ancestry...
Thanks
Joe
