Who were parents of John E. Murphy 1870 Dadeville AL
I am trying to find the names of my great great grandparents.
I have traced my family back to John E. Murphy (my great grandfather)who was born in NY in 1842. He was married to AnnaBelle Smith, who was born in AL in 1844 to J.W. and Elizabeth Smith. AnnaBelle was part Cherokee and I believe they lived on the Tahopeka Indian Reservation - at least Tahopeka was their P.O. address.
John E.s parents, according to my mother's memory, owned a plantation just south of the Horseshoe Bend of the Tallapoosa River near Dadeville, Alabama. They were slave owners. When John E. died in Cedartown, GA in June 1882, AnnaBelle moved back to the plantation for a short time and then went to Atlanta with her children to live with her sister, Ida. She died in 1888 leaving 3 orphans, one of whom was my grandfather.
My grandfather, John Everi(e)tt, had a brother Charles Henry who married a full blood Choctaw who I believe also lived on the Tahopeka Reservation in Tallapoosa County, now in the Horseshoe Bend National Park. They had another brother named Fred.
Any help in locating my great great grandparents would be greatly appreciated. I've really hit a brick wall in my research.
I'm also trying to locate any information on Fred Murphy, who was born in 1881 in Cedartown, Polk County, Georgia and died in Atlanta at the approximate age of 90.
