Here is some more information on the James Loughrey born 1787. He apparently had a daughter Eliza b. 1808 in Md. He had a farm in Va. as well as Md. He had connections to Fayette co. Pa. Also, James Loughrey's father (the maternal grandfather of Eliza) was an early settler in Fayetter co. Pa. and owned a fulling mill. Jewitt's book says John Loughry son of Jeremiah was a weaver - a fulling mill is a cloth making place. Also, there are ties to the Cheat River area which is where John Loughry son of Jeremiah died. I am beginning to believe that you are probably a descendant of John Loughry son of Jeremiah, through an unknown son (James?) Here is some info on that James's descendants.

There is a biography on John L. Whetstone son of Eliza and Joseph Whetstone. Of John L. Whetstone it says, "he is of German-Irish and Welsh extraction, and born in Springhill Township, Fayette county, Pa., August 10, 1831." (So Joseph and Eliza were there at that time.) "His father, Joseph Whetstone, was born in Springhill township in 1792. He was a farmer, owned a small farm of fifty acres, and, in connection with his farm, started and operated a fulling-mill in Springhill township. He afterwards purchased one hundred acres of land on Cheat River. Joseph Whetstone was the father of twelve children, two of whom died in infancy; the others lived to be men and women. Seven of the children were living at the present time. He was a democrat, and for many years a consistent member of the Methodist Protestant church. He died in 1852 at the age of sixty years. His wife, Eliza Whetstone (nee Louchrey), was born in Maryland, in 1808, and when very young she came with her people to Fayette County. She was a member of the same church of her husband and died in 1874, at the age of sixty six."
"The maternal grandfather, Louchrey, was an early settler in Fayette county. He was a fuller by trade, and owned a farm in Virginia."
