Sorry for the delay in answering. An unwelcomed visitor named ISAAC came right thru us here in south central Louisiana and messed things up for a while.
The info I submitted is from a book on Christian County KY
by William Henry Perrin. Note that my Murphey is spelled with an "e", but I have heard that some dropped the "e"
depending upon whether they are protestant or catholic.
Now, let me blow your mind! I found out late in life that I was "adopted" - - no paperwork, no record. Through Family Tree DNA I have ruled out kinship to all the males and females in the family except a male Murph(e)y decended from the Pembroke KY bunch. They seem to be scarce.
I'm hoping that through this Forum I can locate one who, at my expense, will agree to a y-DNA test. I am 83 years old and running out of time.
