Like to correspond with anyone interested in James Murphy b. NC? 1776-79. Thought to be of descent from Co. Cork IR.
Married 1st to Elizabeth Cox. They had a family in Posey Co. IN. Migrated to Republic of Texas. Thought 1st wife died before the trip but not ascertained. His son, Thomas my 2nd Great procurred lands in Beaver Valley in Anderson Co. TX.
James married again and lived near Ash Community in Houston County, TX. Many Murphy's buried in that community.
Both James and Thomas were slave owners. I have copie sof their wills.
Like to learn more about this family line back east, but certainly from Ireland, for the majority named Murphy were from the Emerald Isle.
Thanks, C :)
