How sure of you about when John Murphy came from Ireland or that he was born in Ireland in 1842? I am trying to track down a Murphy clan that might be related to CSA Col Jeb Stuart and his second in command CSA Col John Esten Cooke.

This Murphy clan was started by Hunter Tim Murphy, a sharpshooter for General Daniel Morgan at the Battle of Saratoga.
