Connection of Aaron Murphree of Blount Co. Al to his father

I am writing as an aid to my brother-in-law, Ray Underwood, who is descended from Aaron Murphree of Blount County, AL. I can provide you more detail if needed on his connections. However, Ray has not been able so far to prove the connection from Aaron back to his father, who is supposedly Daniel II. I am wondering if anyone can guide me on what he should be looking for as a documented source of this connection. Also can anyone provide any detail on the supposition that Daniel II died in the Revolution. Was Daniel II a soldier or did he just die from other causes? We have not been able so far to find a military record for Daniel II. He wants to join the Sons of the Revolution and he needs documented sources to be able to do that.
