Sandra, I do believe from looking at how few posts you have made, that you are fairly new doing genealogy. One of the things you will find out about our Murphree clan is they are as a whole, the most sharing, caring bunch of folks, you will ever meet. And that makes you very proud to be one of the bunch.

Both Bruce Jordan and Charles Murphree have posted a tremendous amount of information on this forum. Bruce posted almost my entire line on here, besides emailing it to me. They both have been great about answering questions, giving pointers, etc.

Charles maintains, the Murphree Homeplace at www.homestead.com/murphree.

Another great researcher was Bob Linder, he died a few years back, which was a great loss to our Murphre family.
Another one is Robert Bellew.

There are many others on this forum who have shared a tremendous amount of research.

You will find out, if you are kin to a "Murphree" more likely than not you will also have a Bynum, Allgood,or Cornelius in your family.

Check under Rita Thredway's posts for the annual "4 family" reunion in Blount Co. AL every year. I don't know if they have held this years or not. I would love to go to one, but finances keeps me from being able to go.

There is also a Murphree Family Newsletter, that is fantastic. I subscribed to it for a couple of years. But again, finances....They also have a Murphree family reunion in a different location every year that has a lot of history with the Murphrees.

There is even a Bynum expert who has a great amount of Murphree information, his name is Bob Baird. Bob is like a bulldog with a bone, he is going to find the answer somehow.

Hopefully, one of these folks can answer your question on who Gains parent, John Murphree was? One thing for sure, if they spelled their name as Murphree, they are part of the family, no matter how "outsiders" spelled the name, if your family knew the name was "Murphree" that means you are part of the "Murphree clan."

All of their addresses are available on this forum, just type their name in the "search" box. You will get many messages they have posted. Left click on their name, it will take you to a new window, with their name, posting history and their email address, if available. I know Bruce's and Charles' are available.
