Yes, I am still searching for the ancestors of Charles Murphey (Murphy). This is what I do know - Charles Murphey was born before 1800 and married a Mary Barrack. He must have spent some time in Maryland, possibly near the West Virginia (Virginia) border. He and Mary had at least one child - Edmond, born Sept. 9, 1814, census records indicate he was born in Maryland. Around 1840, Edmond purchases a farm in Keyser, what was then Hampshire County, West Virginia. I find it curious that one of the tracts purchased belonged to a Jacob Barrack (a relative of his wife?) Keyser is not very far from what is now the Maryland border, and indeed, Keyser may have at one time been a part of Maryland - this section of Maryland, and Virginia switched borders numerous times during this period, also counties changed names. I can find no reference to this Charles that makes sense and no reference to his marriage other than what has been passed through family history. Can any EY or Y Murphey help in this matter? thanks - George Notify Administrator about this message?
