Hi Martha,

Here's everything I've found about Edward Murphy(ey):

He was a pensioner of the War of 1812. In an 1832 survey, he listed his age as 92; said he served in the VA line in the Rev. War and currently lived in McMinn Co., TN.

On the Pension Rolls of 1835, Edward Murphey, stated he was a private and served in the VA line during the Rev. War. He was given an annual pension allowance of $55.00. He was placed on the pension roll Nov. 19, 1833. He received retroactive payments from March 4, 1831. As of 1835, he had received a total of $165.00.

Edward Murphy: At the February Court in 1806 he came into Court and reported he had three Orphans in his care. Litiua Murphy, Jenne Murphy(possibly Jane?), and Robert Murphy. It was ordered that they continue in his care. Blount Co TN..Minute Book B/194.

Murphey, Edward m. 11 April 1787, Elizabeth Kerr. Petersburg, VA. Cameron
Murphy, Edward m. 1790, Elizabeth Hobbs. Botetort Co., Kegley’s pg 481

I don't remember where I found the following: Edward Murphy,in US for 30 yrs. & had 9 child., Listed as Brit. Alien during War of 1812. Son-Samuel b.in N.C.,m.Mary?(had at least 5 child.-Josephine Huldah, Mary, Elizabeth, James.

Samuel Murphy was a lieutenant in the 11th regiment of the TN Militia - Oct. 30, 1807. There was also a Samuel Murphey who fought in the VA line during Rev. War. He received a land grant for 100 acres in Kentucky.

I'm sure this doesn't help you very much, but at least you know everything I know.

CAROLYN HODGE
