The Tawakoni News (Texas)- Thursday - June 6, 2002:
Graveside services for Mr. John "Sam" Murff, 70 of West Tawakoni were held Wednesday at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Services were under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Funeral Homes, Mesquite.
Mr. Murff was born Aug. 9, 1931, in Grapevine to Ericleo and Ova Murff. He died Saturday in Tyler.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Stoddard; sister, Leova Beam; sister-in-law, Nancy Murff; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, E. L. and Geroge Murff; sister, Frances Stanfield; infant brother and sister, Harold and Carol Murff.
