Yes, I have seen the Murdock family listed. I have emailed some of them, but they have not been much help. They listed their James as having died because he was not mentioned in the will. They don't really have any proof that he died, only that he wasn't mentioned in the will. I also have a copy of the will.
My g grandfather told his family he was born in Ohio. It states on his death certificate he was born in Ohio.
I have been to the archives, and the James you mentioned above is the only James listed on the census that is the age of my g grandfather on the census in Ohio.
I am not ruling out that the above James is not mine, because my aunts and uncles said that my g grandfather James Murdock b. 6/1/1846 in Ohio wouldn't have anything to do with his family, that he left home at an early age and joined the Civil War. There is a possibility that this is my family, but I don't have any source to prove it one way or the other.
Thanks for your reply. I will take any suggestions that anyone has to offer.
By the way, check out the unknown picture I posted on Old Photos.com. I think this is my g grandfather and his family, but can't prove that either. I just keep coming to dead ends.
