Hello Carolyn,
I am researching my MURDOCK family from Paulding Co. Georgia. I first find John Murdock age 64 (b ca 1794) in South Carolina married to Nancy, a seamstress, in Harrison Twp. Clay Co. Indiana, 1860 census. Their children are all born in Georgia and are; Jane, age 21, SARAH, age 20, John age 18, Catherine age 14, Martha A. age 12, Lucy L. age 10, and Ezra M. age 2. Sarah marries Alford J. MATTHEWS who dies in the Civil War.....She then marries my gr-gr- grandfather, John W. ROYSTER, and they have children, Mary ROYSTER SHEELEY, and Sarah ROYSTER SANDRIDGE. John ROYSTER dies in Indiana in 1884 of his Civil War injuries and Sarah goes on to marry two more husbands who she also outlives!! The family moves on to Henry Co. Missouri after John W. ROYSTERS death......Any connection to your MURDOCK family??
