About your Murdick's in Montana question. This is a little off-base but a first cousin of my grandmother's (Ethel Wanda Murdick) was married to Raymond Smith and they had a ranch somewhere around Reed Point in Stillwater County, Montana. Also, my great-grandfather, Franklin Henry Murdick used to travel to Glentana Montana frequently selling horses. He lived in Hansboro (Towner County) North Dakota. My Mom has a letter he wrote to my grandmother in the early 1900's telling about meeting a man with the name of Murdick that he said was related to his father. I'm sure I have a copy of the letter but will have to locate it. Like you, I know very little about my Murdick ancestors but I do believe that the name was Murdock at one time and somewhere it got changed at least as far as my great-grandfather was concerned. I think his brother in Ohio used the name Murdock.
