Hal A Murdock WW2 Paratrooper
Posted by: David R. Berry Date: September 28, 2000 at 19:11:01

Military historian seeks information on
Hal A Murdock ASN 14065678. Armry records show middle initial discrep. either A or H for same ASN.
Army Serial Number indicates he enlisted in the area NC,SC,TN,MS,AL,GA,FL. Soldier was member of 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of 82nd Airborne Division. One of 25 volunteers from 504th PIR who served as Pathfinders for 82nd Airborne. As a Pathfinder, Murdock and his group preceeded the main Airborne Assault of D-Day, June 6, 1944, by one hour-and the beach landings by 5 hours.
Murdock received BRONZE STAR MEDAL for heroic service in Normandy. Unconfirmed information has him as POW in Stalag 3C in Prussia.
Any leads or information would be greatly appreciated. Locating him will complete 20 years of research and allow preparation of the "unwritten chapter" in the Combat History of the 504th PIR.
I have photos of all Pathfinder Teams and Hal Murdock is pictured, but at present he can not be identified--HELP!!
